This guide is designed to help you understand the practical differences between massage styles before choosing a session.
The short answer
Swedish Massage is generally smoother, lighter and more relaxation-led. Deep Tissue is slower, firmer and more focused. Both can be full-body massages, but the experience feels different because the pressure and pacing are different.
Swedish Massage
Swedish uses long gliding strokes, kneading and rhythmic movements. The therapist keeps a continuous flow and usually works with light-to-medium pressure. Choose it when your main goal is to relax and you do not want intense pressure.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue uses slower movements and more deliberate pressure. The therapist may spend longer on areas that feel tight. Choose it when you enjoy firmer pressure and want a more focused session.
Which one should a first-time visitor choose?
If you are unsure how much pressure you enjoy, Swedish is usually the easier starting point. You can always ask for slightly more pressure. If you already know that light massage feels unsatisfying, Deep Tissue may suit you better.
Pressure should always be adjustable
A massage does not become better simply because it hurts. Speak up if the pressure is too light or too strong. A good session should stay within a level you can comfortably relax into.
