This guide is designed to help you understand the practical differences between massage styles before choosing a session.
The biggest difference is movement
Thai Massage uses assisted stretching and rhythmic compression. Oil massages such as Swedish, Aromatherapy and Balinese rely more on gliding strokes over the body.
Clothing
Thai Massage is performed in comfortable spa clothing, which makes it a good choice if you prefer minimal skin exposure. Oil massages use draping while the therapist works on one area at a time.
Pressure and pace
Thai can feel active because the therapist moves and stretches the body. Swedish and Aromatherapy feel more continuous and restful. Balinese sits between the two because it combines flowing massage with some stretching and pressure.
Which should you book?
Choose Thai if you enjoy stretching and movement. Choose an oil massage if you would rather lie still and relax into long, flowing strokes.
Want help choosing?
Tell Celestial Spa whether you prefer light, medium or firm pressure and whether you want oil massage or stretching.
